Emmanuel
Djob
Born in Cameroon, he’s been teaching and conducting choirs
from his 15 years. He did musical studies in Yaoundi, where he participated
in the local Gospel choir in his neighbourhood’s church. At
the age of 25 left Cameroon and took his chance to study at one
of the most important cities culturally talking: Paris.
In Paris he followed his studies and did his first performances
around Europe. Later on he moved to the south of France where he
founded along with other musicians the Massilia Gospel Experience,
Marsella’s Gospel school, where he tought vocal technique,
Gospel language, singing and instrumentation.
In 1996 Emmanuel Djob created The Black and White Gospel
Singers, one of the most important Gospel groups in Europe,
and without any doubt, the most creative. A group full of influences
of modern musics such as Blues, Reggae, Hip hop, etc… He also
colaborated along with mytic groups like The Clara Ward Gospel Singers
and the Golden Gate Quartet.
He’s got a very wide tessitura and a great control over the
falsetto. His voices turns into a very versatile instrument: warm
and tender in the balads, and perhaps a little bluesy in the quicker
tempos. His preference for Hard Gospel makes him a great shouter
with a great scenic presence.
He's the founder of many Gospel and Negro Spirituals groups is Africa
and in Europe, such as The Black Cross Quartet, The Sinai's
Voices, Bayembi's International or Gospelize It Mass Choir.
